Celestial Colors are liquid cosmetic grade dyes for use in cold-process soaps, melt & pour, and skincare products.  Our colorants are packed in our standard 2oz plastic bottle, and our BIG 8oz production size!  We also will be offering 1oz sampler kits.  They are all packaged in plastic bottles with a convenient twist top lid for easy dispensing.  Celestial Colors contain FD&C and D&C dyes and are highly concentrated to be an effective colorant system in a variety of soap and cosmetic mediums;  1/4 tsp dye will color a pound of soap a medium shade.  More or less colorant may be required to achieve the desired color.

PLEASE NOTE:

Please be aware that colors often look different in different browsers and/or monitors, we tried to get them as true as possible but some browsers are limited in how they display colors.  Also, you may have varying results than shown here according to the ph of your soap base.  Colors shown here are meant to be used as a guideline.  If you are trying to acheive a certain color, testing the colors first in a small batch is recommended.

MIXING INSTRUCTIONS:

To ensure that the soap dyes are evenly dispersed in your soap; we recommend adding the colorant to one cup of soap then thoroughly mixing with a stick blender before adding to the soap batch.

QUESTIONS:

Why are the colors in the bottle different than the color I ordered? I ordered Lapis and the color is green in the bottle
The colors in the bottle may be a completely different color than you were expecting to receive. This is because many FD&C and D&C colors change colors in CP soap. For example green may turn blue or purple in soap. The color shown on the website represents the color of the cured soap.

I make glycerin soap (melt & pour), can I use celestial colors in my soap?
Yes, you can use Celestial Colors in your soaps, however, be aware that the colors shown on the website are for CP soaps only. Colors will vary in melt and pour soap base. You should test the colors in your soap base to determine the finished color.Colors may bleed or fade in melt and pour soaps.


Can I use Celestial Colors to color bath bombs, body washes and shampoos?
Yes, you can use Celestial Colors to color virtually any bath and body product. Just remember that the final color will be the color in the bottle. It may be helpful to place a drop of colorant on a napkin to see the shade of the colorant.

The dyes will separate from oil based products.
